Rock samples were crushed so that at least 70 percent of the material passed through a -10 (2 mm) mesh screen. A 200-gram, representative split of the sample was taken using a riffle splittler. The 200-gram sample was then pulverized in a chrome steel ring mill so that 95 percent of the sample through a -150 (106 micron) mesh screen. All whole rock analyses were performed by Chemex Labs, Inc. Major and minor element oxides were determined by XRF methods following a metaborate fusion. Trace elements (Ba, Nb, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr) were also analyzed using XRF methods on a pressed pellet. Ferrous iron was determined by wet chemistry. |
