Description 546 heavy-mineral concentrate samples were obtained in the study area via hand auger, power auger, and grab samples from beaches, terraces, and rivers. Samples were then dried and weighed. First, samples were passed through a Jones splitter and a head and spiral feed split were obtained. The spiral-feed fraction was reduced to a -10 mesh size, then run through a three-turn rubber-lined fiberglass spiral concentrator. The heavy-mineral concentrate isolated by this process was then dried, weighed, and rotary-split into two fractions - One for assay, and one for geochemical characterization. The geochemical concentration split was separated into magnetic fractions for analysis. The heavy-mineral portions of the spiral concentrate split isolated by a 0.15 ampere electromagnet were analyzed for concentrations of major oxides, Ba, Rb, Sr, Nb, Zr, and Y via x-ray fluorescence and for concentrations of Ce, Eu, La, Lu, Nd, Sm, Tb, Th, U, and Yb via neutron activation analysis.
